A simple, powerful diode laser system for atomic physics

External-cavity diode lasers are ubiquitous in atomic physics and a wide variety of other scientific disciplines, due to their excellent affordability, coherence length, versatility. However, for higher-power applications, the combination seed lasers, injection-locking amplifiers can rapidly become expensive complex. Here we present high-power, single-diode laser design with specifications: > 210 m mathvariant="normal">W , 100 ms-linewidth ( 427 ± mode purity, 10 GHz mode-hop-free tuning range, 12 nm coarse tuning. Simple methods outlined determine spectral purity linewidth minimal additional infrastructure. The has sufficient power collect 10 width="thinmathspace" 87 mathvariant="normal">R mathvariant="normal">b atoms single-chamber vapor-loaded magneto-optical trap. With appropriate diodes feedback, system could be easily adapted species architectures.
